Khimsar Fort

 
The Khimsar Fort, now a premium heritage hotel, was constructed by Rao Karamsiji, the 8th son of Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur. The construction on the fort began in 1523. Lter adages to the fort included a zenana (ladies) wing, and a private regal wing built by Thakur Onkar Singh for himself. A part of the fort still forms the residence of the royal family of Khimsar.

The 50 rooms at the hotel offer luxury at its best in a grand and elegant ambience. Rao Karamsiji - the 8th son of Rao Jodhaji, who was the founder of Jodhpur in Rajasthan, founded the royal dynasty at Khimsar. The construction of the Khimsar Fort commenced in 1523 AD, in the fairy tale land of Rajasthan in India. Khimsar was one of the main chieftains of Marwar and also the head house of Karamsot Rathors. The family shifted in only during the 18th century when a new 'zenena' (ladies wing) was added to Khimsar Fort in Rajasthan India. Thakur Onkar Singh constructed a regal wing for himself in the 1940s.

Osian

Excursions to Khimar involve exploring Osian which a small village located 27 km from the village of Khimsar. There is a temple located in Osian, Sachhiyamata Temple which can be visited.

The district of Naugaur is located 43 km from Khimsar. Naugar is known for its cattle fair. The fair is visited by a large number of locals as well as tourists. One of the major crowd pullers of Naugar, the cattle fair arranges cultural events, different sports events and camel races. In addition to visiting the different places of interests and going on excursions from this village, tours to Khimsar also includes tasting the mouthwatering Rajasthani delicacies.

Cattle Fair

Cattle Fair, held approximately 40 kilometers away from Khimsar, draws a number of tourists to this place each year in the month of January and February. The holiday makers enjoy the camel races and other cultural events to their fullest. The folk music echoes across the desert sand.

Sachhiyamata Temple

Sachiya Mata, The mother goddess, is worshipped as Kuldevi by Panwar Rajputs/Parmar Rajputs, Oswal, Charans, Jains,Pareek [bhramin] and many other castes living in Rajasthan and Gujarat. Her temple is located in Ossian, near Jodhpur city of Rajasthan. Temple was built by Great Parmar King Upendre for his Kul devi in 9th - 10th century.

There are two stories to explain the origin of name Sachiya for goddess. According one story temple belongs to goddess Sachi who was a wife of the God Indra. Sachi was a daughter of Asur king Paulom. The King Paulom ruled a great kingdom and was believed to be benevolent king. Brahmins (Aryans) were also patronize by him, for example Shukracharya was pursuing research on immortality under his patronage. Vrut, who was an Asura (non-aryan), was serving as chief of army of Paulom. He was very brave and sensible person.

Jain Temples

Khimsar known for its sixteen ruined Jain and Hindu temples. These temples date back to the eighth and eleventh centuries. The most important temples are the Sachhiyamata Temple and the Jain Temples. While the Hindu temples are in a dilapidated condition, the Jain temples are well preserved.

Nagaur is around 43 km away from Khimsar and famous for its cattle fair. Thousands of people bring camels, bullocks, and horses for sale. Camel races and other sporting events are organized at this fair.
